the seal has the outline of the original land grant map of Rancho La Puente. Totaling 48,790.55 acres, Rancho La Puente was one of the larger ranches in Southern California. It extended on the north tothe ravine above the present location of what is now Covina Hills. On the south it extended to the southern slope of the Puente Hills. Its eastern boundary was Brea Canyon and the boundary of the Spadra Rancho. The San Gabriel River formed the west line and extended beyond to include the present town of Montebello. The area was intersected by the San Jose Creek. The map was made in 1868 after John Rowland and William Workman had proved their Mexican land grant to the U.S. government.
Official Visit – March 27, 2022
